Leaves on the wind
Old couple just sitting, a bench in the town
Sharing a thought while the world goes around
The hustle and bustle of life passes by
But for them the whole world is in each other's eyes
Past eighty years both at least, I suppose
His lifetimes devotion, his passion his rose
Is sitting there still with such love for this man
They are whole with their love, this woman, this man
White hair blows around but they care not for looks
While the fashion stained youth flashes by and just mocks
For the clothes that they wear are just rags gained from kindness
They don't care for their minds have the memories not blindness
This hero of horror and war that I see
And she waited for news of her man patiently
Can our youth see today what a terrible price
These two paid for their love and for their sacrifice
And soon will the life that they share be just dust
For I know when one dies, then the other gives up
And the whole that they are will not be with just one
At the end of the day when the living is done
Just leaves on the wind and a life that is shared
And to die in the arms of the one who so cared
Can there be more to life than this ending to find
Just two leaves on the breeze of the wind of mankind
